I have always been a huge fan of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and have been lucky to perform a previous comedy show in the 90s at the festival. After the earlier success of performing the
bubble show during the Easter holiday break at The Factory Space in Bournemouth and The Attic in Southampton, I was now eager to look for larger venues, including theatres to perform at.
I was lucky to secure 2 slots at The Shaftesbury Arts Centre for The Shaftesbury Fringe Festival. This was a huge test for me to see if I could sell tickets at a larger theatre venue. Plenty of promotion for the bubble show via social media, leaflet drops and an interview on the local radio station, This is Alfred Radio.
Saturday's show was very close to being sold out, and Sunday's show was two-thirds full. Sunday, unfortunately, in Shaftesbury, the weather changed, and it rained all day, and I was told that a lot of venues rely on walk-ins.
The staff at The Shaftesbury Arts Centre were very supportive with the setup of lighting and sound for the show. Both shows were huge successes with children and adults alike, with plenty of laughs. A huge applause at the end of each show was so pleasing, and I have already booked again next year for the 2026 Fringe Festival and booked an extra show in February at The Shaftesbury Arts Centre.
