On the orders of the boss (My wife) who had reminded me that I had not done a blog since last year and it is already June. With a cup of tea in hand and a slice of Dorset cake or two, it is time for a catch-up. After a very successful 2024, where would a man who plays with bubbles take me in 2025? I always make a few New Year's resolutions, which this year included hiring out some small theatres and selling tickets, but would anyone come?
A new venue had opened in Pokesdown, called The Factory Space, and this was the first ticketed
Bubble Show in Bournemouth I put on. After lots of legwork, handing out flyers and advertising on social media, I was very happy with the result. We had over 80 parents and children enjoy a fun-filled show of bubbles and laughter.
The second step into the water took me to the renowned comedy club in Totton, "The Attic". Numbers were a little less this time. Surprisingly, the Easter holidays were full of sunshine, so parents were obviously going to make the most of the lovely weather. The audience was great fun, though and eager to take part in any bubble tricks and the opportunity to stand inside a giant bubble. I am now looking at more new venues to put on some bubbly fun, which has included adding two dates at
The Shaftesbury Fringe Festival in July.
It always gets exciting when you get a call from a new venue that would love to add a
Bubble Show to their entertainment schedule. First on the list was
Aldingbourne Country Park near Chichester. My van had been spotted in October last year in Southampton, which led to a meeting and two bookings during the Easter Holidays. This resulted in
three sold-out Bubble Shows in a huge marquee on each date that was booked. I had been told that everybody was excited to see my bubble show, and now, due to the success, I will be performing at this amazing animal park during the summer holidays.
Another animal park also contacted me. There is a theme going on here, as I also perform at the wonderful
Finkley Down Farm in Andover every school holiday break.
Madjestion Animal Park in Gillingham had seen my bubble show on Social media and also had requested a few dates. I am thrilled to say that once again, with three shows a day, performing in the barn was also a big hit, with lots of very happy customers.
Bowleaze Holiday Park in Weymouth was my first holiday booking recently on the May Bank Holiday Monday. The weather on this day had not been so kind. Due to the poor weather conditions, with parents looking for something to do to entertain their little ones, I had a packed out venue. The response to the Bubble Show was more than I could have imagined, and I'm already looking forward to returning in July, with numerous other holiday camps added to my event list, including
Park Dean Resorts.
I had never thought that when I started my journey as a
children's entertainer in the Bubble World, where it would take me and the different types of events. These have recently included Family Friendly Festivals and something close to my heart, working with children/adults with additional needs.
Already looking ahead to the end-of-term school events and the summer of 2025 holiday bookings, the enquiries from
Pre-schools & Nurseries have surpassed previous years, and we are now fully booked from the 5th to the 30th July, unfortunately. The school holiday period is almost fully booked too, allowing just a few spare days to enjoy the beach here in Bournemouth. Fingers crossed, I will not leave it so long to update you on the blog.
